Depending on your appetite, you can choose a range of tub sizes or cones. In my experience, gentle haggling in local markets is always fun. Typically, stall owners mark up their prices because they expect some haggling. As you stroll through the colorful aisles of the Taj Mahal plaza, you can pick up souvenirs to remember your time in Ocho Rios. But don’t forget some easy haggling with the vendors for the best prices. It’s good to note that the Jamaican Tourist Board approves all vendors in the plaza.
Caribbean

For a really full day, packages that include all the activities, as well as lunch, are available, but a customizable package can be purchased instead. This park is affiliated with nearby Dolphin Cove and may be combined with a dolphin encounter. The Irie Blue Hole is located deep in the hills outside Ocho Rios. A collection of waterfalls cascade into a stunning blue pool, transforming the locale into a tropical paradise.

Don’t forget to get yourself a cup of the famous Blue Mountain Coffee, which has this rich flavor everyone talks about. There’s a unique calmness to horseback riding, and the Caribbean is the perfect spot to experience it. Ocho Rios also offers many options for enjoying local Jamaican cuisine, the most famous of which is jerk chicken. Plenty of cafes and restaurants serve variations of authentic jerk chicken, with its characteristic spicy and smoky flavors that will tantalize your taste buds. You can climb this 180-metre waterfall that ends its run in a basin directly on the beach. This all-inclusive resort is known for its awesome spa, fantastic fitness center, friendly service, and tasty food and drinks. Situated on the northern side of Jamaica, it has stunning views of the lush forest in the distance and the natural beauty of the ocean right outside its doors.

The resort town of Ocho Rios welcomes thousands of visitors each year. Even without a major airport, its active cruise port and scenic highway connection makes it a choice destination for quick and fulfilling day trips. Also called Ocho Rios Bay Beach, Turtle Beach is one of the most popular ones for cruise ship passengers. This stunning beach—the largest in Ocho Rios—features a swimming area, loungers, umbrellas, changing rooms, restrooms, and showers. Arriving at Scotchies Jerk Center, you’ll be greeted by the mouthwatering aroma of jerk seasoning and spices. The jerk pork and chicken are cooked over a pimento wood fire, adding to their unique flavor.
The Turtle Bay Pier is located next to the town's restaurants and shops, and the James Bond Pier is located farther west, a 15 minute walk. A popular restaurant option for cruise passengers visiting Ocho Rios is a visit to Bamboo Blu for lunch or dinner. This Caribbean beach club and restaurant offers a beautiful setting with views over the Caribbean Sea, with white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.
The menu features traditional dishes such as jerk chicken, curry goat, oxtail, and ackee saltfish. Mrs T’s Kitchen is also known for its generous portion sizes and flavorful dishes. Most cruise passengers head for the Taj Mahal shopping plaza, a bustling marketplace in the heart of town. It offers a wide array of shops and vendors selling everything from locally made handicrafts to designer clothing and accessories. Do you want to continue enjoying the luxury of the cruise but on dry land?
Swimming with dolphins is a bucket list activity that is available in many cruise ports. Dolphin Cove in Ocho Rios offers dolphin interactions that take place in a natural cove rather than an artificial pool. A variety of different dolphin interaction experiences are available to choose from, as well an up close and personal shark encounter.
Port Ocho Rios cruise ship schedule shows timetable calendars of all arrival and departure dates by month. The port's schedule lists all ships (in links) with cruises going to or leaving from Ocho Rios, Jamaica. To see the full itineraries (ports of call dates and arrival / departure times) and their lowest rates – just follow the corresponding ship-link. However, you should be aware that the journey to the Blue Mountains from Ocho Rios is quite lengthy, taking several hours each way due to the distance and mountainous terrain. This makes it less feasible as a day excursion, as you will have limited time in port. If you can add Mrs T’s Kitchen to your cruise day itinerary, you’ll find it offers a warm and inviting ambiance.
Until cruise ships arrived, Ocho Rios (“eight rivers”) was a sleepy little fishing village. Now, with two major piers for cruise ships, it’s become one of the hottest destinations in the Caribbean. James Bond Beach is a secluded beach located in Oracabessa, a 20-minute drive from Ocho Rios. It consists of sandy stretches and lush mountains that plunge straight into the sea. This stunning beach is ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Margaritaville is a vibrant beachside restaurant and bar offering a fun and lively atmosphere.
The journey is a nice combination of tranquil floating to take in the lush forest and tiny, yet exhilarating, little river rapids that both adults and children will enjoy. Life jackets are provided but where the tubing takes place, the river is quite shallow. Guides often walk along next to the tubes keeping them toward the center of the river. River tubing along the White River is a good activity to combine with a trip to The Blue Hole due to their proximity.
The average temperature ranges from 77°F to 88°F (25°C to 31°C). The wet season occurs from May to November, with a higher chance of rainfall during these months. It’s best to stay clear of hurricane season, which runs from June through November. James Bond fans may recognize the beach as the one where Honey Rider (Ursula Andress) emerges from the water to a surprised James Bond (Sean Connery). Staying with the James Bond connection, Ian Flemming’s estate, Goldeneye, is near the beach.

Just 300 feet away from the Turtle Bay Pier - and less than 1/2 away from the James Bond Pier, Margaritaville is an easy, fun and close by spot to enjoy a day at the beach. Taxi drivers are usually standing by their cars, and they will not follow you. But if you choose to use their services, it is advisable to check the officially rated fares first (by the pier) and be prepared to haggle as you may end up with a much better deal. The exit gates open into a wide street (Turtle Beach Road) lined on the left side by a couple of condominiums/hotels and on the right by a few shops and bars. This road is around 300 feet long (100 meters) and ends on the Main Street of Ocho Rios.
